2011 Scion xD RS 3.0: New Limited Edition Priced from $17,765

Toyota's Scion division has revealed its first [of many more to come] limited edition vehicle for the 2011 model year, the xD Release Series 3.0, which will begin arriving in showrooms later this month.

Offered in a new brownish color named xPRESSO, which is not currently available on any other Scion model, the new xD RS 3.0 features a four-piece body kit with front and rear lower lips along with side skirts, plus carbon-fiber trimmed B-pillar appliqués with the RS logo. And well, that's about it.

Scion said it will only build 1,500 units of the xD RS 3.0, with each car featuring a unique, individually numbered stainless-steel badge.

Pricing for the special edition of the xD hatch is set at $16,905 when combined with a manual gearbox, and $17,705 when the engine is hooked up to an automatic transmission. Bear in mind that neither figure includes the mandatory $720 delivery, processing and handling fee.

Toyota displayed a customized / pimped up version of the all-new 2011 Scion iQ prepared by Five Axis at the New York International Auto Show.

The car's exterior appearance has been beefed up with an aero kit that includes front and rear aprons, side skirts and fender extensions that allow the use of eye-catching 18-inch alloys wrapped in 215/40R18 Yokohama tires.

Inside, the special iQ show car gets custom leather-trimmed seats and door inserts and an Ultrasuede EcoDesign headliner.

As for the performance upgrades, Five Axis installed a TRD Custom Big Brake Kit and a Tein sports suspension.

Toyota today unveiled the North American version of its iQ mini that will be marketed under the Scion brand in the United States at the New York Auto Show.

With the exception of the darkened headlamps and tail lamps, and the newly designed front bumper with modified upper and lower grilles, the Scion IQ is identical to the Toyota iQ sold in other regions of the world including Europe.

With an overall length of only 120.1-inches (more than 30-in. shorter than the Toyota Yaris), width of 66.1-inches and a 78.7-inch wheelbase, the iQ is the smallest model in the Toyota Group's North American lineup.

Available exclusively as a three-door hatchback, the Scion iQ has seating for 3+1 in an asymmetrical configuration with the driver's and front-passenger's seats being slightly off set. The golf-kart's car's rear seats feature a 50/50 split and the ability to fold flat, creating enough space -according to Toyota- to accommodate up to two golf bags.

Like its European counterpart, the 2011 iQ is offered with a 1.3-liter, four-cylinder engine that produces over 90 horsepower and is combined with a Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT). Toyota said that it expects the iQ to achieve a combined fuel economy in the high 30s (mpg).

Toyota further adds that the iQ will come standard with 10 SRS airbags a six-speaker audio system with USB and auxiliary ports. Active safety features include Vehicle Stability Control (VSC), an anti-lock brake system (ABS) with Electronic Brake force Distribution (EBD), Brake Assist (BA) and Traction Control (TRAC).

Making its world debut at the New York motor show alongside the N.A.-spec iQ mini, is the second-generation of Scion's tC compact coupe that is scheduled to arrive in U.S. dealerships later this fall.
Scion's 2011 tC coupe benefits from an all-new 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine with dual VVT-i that generates 180 horsepower and 173 lb-ft of torque, an increase of 19HP and 11 lbs.-ft of torque over the previous model.
Power is transferred to the front wheels through a revised six-speed manual gearbox or a new six-speed automatic with sequential-shift.

New York Auto Show: Scion IQ Concept

With stylish, youthful vehicles like the Nissan Cube and Kia Soul hitting the U.S. market, is Scion is still on the cutting edge? The xD and tC are getting rather long in the tooth after all, and even the iconic xB's edginess has been blunted.

Scion fired back at the doubters with the unveiling of its iQ concept at the New York Auto Show today. Based on the Toyota iQ microcompact, Scion's version turns a wild tuner's eye to the urban transportation pod with results that make the Brabus smart fortwo look restrained.

New York Auto Show: Scion Announces Micro-subcompact Concept

Scion has decided to end speculation about whether a new concept vehicle will be unveiled at the New York Auto Show by issuing a press release confirming our suspicions. In the process, though, the automaker has stirred the pot, yet again, about what type of vehicle will be on display.

According to the super short blurb (pasted after the break), the new concept will be a “micro-subcompact” and will represent “a new segment for the brand aimed toward the growing urbanization trend.”
